Stakeholders Lead Intensive Road Safety Education at Pragya Summit 2025

All too soon, the much-anticipated Pragya Summit 2025 came to a successful close on 30th September 2025 at the Centre for National Culture (CNC), Cape Coast.

The summit brought together Pragya Riders from across the Metropolis and key stakeholders, including the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), National Insurance Commission (NIC), Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, and Prof. Thomas Ojo from the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

Each stakeholder took turns to educate and sensitize the riders on critical aspects of road safety and compliance. The NRSA made a presentation on safety on the roads, emphasizing best practices to prevent accidents. The DVLA outlined the driver, vehicle, and motor licensing processes and the responsibilities that come with them. The NIC educated participants on the importance of insurance coverage for both riders and passengers, while the MTTD discussed traffic regulations and the punitive measures for offenders.

The Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, also engaged riders on the newly instituted by-laws governing Pragyia operations, announcing a one-month grace period for them to regularize their documentation and comply with operational guidelines. He cautioned that after the grace period, defaulters would face the full rigors of the law.

The event was graced by several distinguished personalities, including Nana Kwesi Egyin II (Nyimfahen of Oguaa) representing the Oguaamanhen, Hon. Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku (MP for Cape Coast North), Captain Smart of Onua TV, and officials from the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly.

The Pragya Summit 2025 marks a significant milestone in the city’s commitment to promoting safer, more regulated, and sustainable Pragyia operations, reinforcing Cape Coast’s drive toward a cleaner, safer, and more disciplined transport system.
