Cape Coast Launches First 8-Year Development Plan to Drive Inclusive Growth
On 9th October 2025, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur led the historic launch of the much anticipated 8-Year Development Plan (2026–2033) for the City of Firsts, Cape Coast.
This landmark blueprint — the first of its kind for the city — outlines a comprehensive roadmap to drive growth and transformation across all sectors of development, including Education, Health, Infrastructure, Tourism, Economic Development, Social Development, Sports, and Governance & Administration.
The launch, held at the Graduate School Auditorium of the University of Cape Coast, brought together a distinguished gathering of residents, indigenes, and key stakeholders, all united by a shared vision for a more prosperous and resilient Cape Coast.
The event was chaired by Nana Sam Brew Butler, a renowned businessman and football administrator, and graced by several notable dignitaries, including Hon. Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku (Ragga) – MP for Cape Coast North; Mr. Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams – Managing Director, Ghana-Libya Holding Company Ltd; Chief Mike Dery – Presidential Staffer representing the Vice President and the Central Regional Minister; Prof. Kobby Mensah – CEO, Ghana Tourism Development Company Ltd; Prof. Simon Mariwah – Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, UCC; and Prof. Thomas Ojo – Department of Geography and Regional Planning, UCC.
In his address, Hon. George Justice Arthur emphasized that the plan represents a bold step toward inclusive, sustainable development, driven by innovation, collaboration, and the collective will of the people of Cape Coast.
"Together, we’ve set the course for a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable Cape Coast — one that harnesses the full potential of its people and heritage. The future begins now — and it begins with us," the Mayor affirmed.
