Mayor Commissions 16-Seater Modern Toilet Facility at Amanful to Boost Sanitation
On Friday, 10th October 2025, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, together with officials of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, commissioned a modern 16-seater Water Closet (WC) toilet facility at Amanful in the Amanful East Electoral Area.
The newly constructed facility, designed for both men and women, also includes a bathroom to enhance convenience and promote proper hygiene practices. It is expected to significantly curb open defecation along the seashore and the sea defence stretch — a long-standing environmental and public health concern in the community.
Present at the event were the Assembly Member for Amanful East Electoral Area, Hon. Victoria Swanzy (They Go), Assembly Members from other Electoral Areas, Unit Committee members, opinion leaders, and residents of Amanful.
Hon. George Justice Arthur underscored the importance of the project in improving sanitation and ensuring a cleaner environment for the people of Amanful. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to extending similar sanitation interventions to other parts of the Metropolis.
Hon. Victoria Swanzy expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the Mayor and the Assembly, noting that the facility addresses a major challenge that had persisted for years among her constituents.
The commissioning of this edifice marks another milestone in the Assembly’s ongoing efforts to enhance sanitation infrastructure and promote the health and well-being of residents across the Cape Coast Metropolis.
