Mayor Arthur Commends New Prison Support Assistants at Ankaful Passing-Out Parade

On Wednesday, 24th September 2025, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, joined dignitaries, families, and well-wishers at the Passing-Out Parade for Prison Support Assistants (PSA) under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) at the Ankaful Prison Officers Training School.

The ceremony marked a moment of pride and inspiration as hundreds of young men and women, after months of intensive training, officially graduated to serve as Prison Support Assistants. Their accomplishment represents not only a personal milestone but also a vital contribution to national efforts in strengthening security and expanding employment opportunities for Ghana’s youth.

The colourful event drew several high-profile dignitaries, including Mr. Malik Basintale, CEO of the YEA; Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service; Hon. Dr. Kwame Minta-Nyarku, MP for Cape Coast North; Hon. Ismail Zagoon-Saeed, MCE for KEEA; and Hon. Hakim Addae, Council of State Member representing the Central Region, among others.

In his remarks, Hon. George Justice Arthur lauded the efforts of the new graduates and encouraged them to uphold professionalism, discipline, and dedication in their service. He emphasized that empowering the youth with employable skills and a strong sense of civic responsibility remains central to both local and national development.

The event served as a reminder that with collaboration and commitment, Ghana’s young people can be equipped not just for employment but for meaningful service to the nation.
