On 20th May 2026, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, accompanied by senior officials of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, paid a working visit to the Cape Coast Metropolitan Police Command at Bakaano.
The delegation was received by Chief Inspector Vincent Ayeebono, Station Officer of the Metro Police Station, who led the team on a tour of the facility. During the inspection, the Assembly observed the deteriorating condition of the police station, a colonial-era structure that urgently requires redevelopment and modernization to meet current operational demands.
The visit forms part of the Assembly’s ongoing efforts to assess critical public infrastructure and strengthen collaboration with key institutions to enhance security and service delivery across the metropolis.
The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Ministry of the Interior, the Ghana Police Service, and other relevant stakeholders to address the challenges facing the facility and support efforts to restore it to a more functional and befitting standard.
