The Finance Department is established at Metropolitan Assembly under the mandate of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, Public Financial Management Act 921 of 2016, and the Local Governance Act 936 of 2016.

Mission
We exist to provide public financial management services to the Government and General Public through efficient, skilled, well-motivated and dedicated staff using the most appropriate technology.
Core Functions & Responsibilities
- Manage the Metro's funds and coordinate accounts between the Metropolis and Central Government.
- Advises the Metropolis on financial matters and keeps relevant records.
- Issues transactional payments to agencies and vendors.
- Keep, render and publish statements on Public Accounts.
- Participate in Metropolitan Assembly road planning processes.
- Facilitate the disbursement of legitimate and authorized funds.
- Undertake revenue mobilization activities of the Assembly.
- Make provision for financial services to all departments in the District.
