Preparatory Works Begin for Cape Coast’s Proposed 24-Hour Market

On Wednesday, 20th May 2026, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, accompanied by staff of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, inspected the site designated for the construction of the proposed 24-Hour Market at Ekon Junction.

The inspection was undertaken together with the project consultant to assess the progress of preliminary activities currently being carried out at the site. Preparatory works, including land clearing and site development, have commenced ahead of the main construction phase, which is expected to begin soon.

The proposed 24-Hour Market is a key development initiative aimed at promoting local trade, creating employment opportunities, and stimulating economic growth within the Cape Coast Metropolis. The project is expected to provide a modern and accessible trading environment that will support businesses and contribute to the overall development of the area.
