MP and Mayor Visit Victims of Building Collapse in Cape Coast

On Tuesday, 23rd June 2026, the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South and Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, together with the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, visited victims of the recent building collapses in Cape Coast to express their condolences and support.

The visit provided an opportunity for the two leaders to commiserate with those who sustained injuries and with families who lost loved ones in the tragic incident. As a demonstration of solidarity and compassion, they presented a cash donation to the affected families to support them during this difficult period.

During the visit, Hon. George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan and Hon. George Justice Arthur also urged residents, landlords, and property owners to prioritize the regular maintenance, renovation, and structural assessment of aging buildings. They emphasized the importance of proactive safety measures to help prevent similar incidents and protect lives and property.

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly extends its deepest sympathies to all those affected by the tragedy and remains committed to working with relevant authorities and stakeholders to promote safer communities across the metropolis.
