Metro-Wide Clean-Up Exercise Boosts Sanitation Ahead of Festive Season

On Saturday, 20th December 2025, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, together with Assembly officials and members of the Ghana Red Cross Society, joined residents of the Metropolis for the final metro-wide clean-up exercise ahead of the Christmas festivities.

The exercise covered key locations, including Kotokoraba Market, Abura Market, Cape Coast Stadium Road, Akotokyir Township, Ekon Township, Brofoyedur, and Amanful, as part of ongoing efforts to promote environmental cleanliness and safeguard public health across the city.

In support of the initiative, the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), in collaboration with a fumigation agency, undertook fumigation activities at the Kotokoraba and Abura Markets to ensure a clean and healthy trading environment as the festive season approaches.

At Amanful, the Mayor presented boxes of nose masks and hand gloves—donated by the Ghana Red Cross Society—to the Assembly Member for the Amanful East Electoral Area, Hon. Victoria Swanzy, to support ongoing sanitation and safety efforts within the community.

This collective effort highlights the Assembly’s commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy Cape Coast for both residents and visitors during the Christmas season and beyond.
