Mayor Commiserates with UCC Community After Tragic Loss

The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, paid a courtesy visit to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to commiserate with the University community following the tragic passing of Ms. Innocentia Atsufui Avinu, a Level 200 Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resource Management) student.

The MCE was received at the University's Council Chamber by the Registrar, Mr. Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye, Esq., together with members of the University's senior management.

During the visit, Hon. Arthur, who also serves as Chairman of the Metropolitan Security Council (MUSEC), expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, as well as the management, staff, and students of the University. He described the incident as a profound loss and assured the University community of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly's support during this difficult time.

The MCE was briefed on the circumstances surrounding the incident by the Head of the UCC Security Section, Col. Joseph K. Baah Tsiquaye, who provided an update on the matter.

Hon. Arthur reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to working closely with the University and other key stakeholders to strengthen security measures and promote the safety, welfare, and well-being of students across the Cape Coast Metropolis.
