On Thursday, 25th June 2026, the Metropolitan Chief Executive for Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, together with the Senior Management of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA), held a media briefing to communicate the outcomes of the Emergency Management Meeting convened on Tuesday, 23rd June 2026, to address the persistent flooding challenges affecting the Cape Coast Metropolis.
The briefing, held at the CCMA Conference Room, highlighted key resolutions and immediate interventions aimed at mitigating the impact of flooding, safeguarding lives and property, improving drainage management, and strengthening the Assembly's disaster preparedness and response efforts.
During the interactive session, Hon. George Justice Arthur and officials of the Assembly responded to questions from members of the media, providing further clarification on the decisions reached and outlining the implementation strategies designed to address the recurring flooding situation.
The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the agreed interventions in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. It also appealed to residents to support these efforts by keeping drains free of refuse, adhering to planning and building regulations, and working collectively to build a safer, cleaner, and more climate-resilient Cape Coast.
