As part of activities marking Tree for Life Day, observed annually on 5th June, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, joined the Forestry Commission, key stakeholders, and residents of the metropolis in a tree-planting exercise aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and enhancing the city's landscape.

The exercise commenced with the symbolic planting of palm trees along the median of Cardinal Appiah Turkson Road, from the Pedu Total Fuel Station to Aquarium Road, and concluded at the median in front of the Metro Mass Transit Station at Aquarium.

Addressing participants during the event, the Cape Coast District Director of the Forestry Commission announced that the Commission currently has more than 350,000 tree seedlings available for free distribution to individuals, institutions, community groups, and organizations interested in supporting the national greening initiative.

In his remarks, Hon. George Justice Arthur reaffirmed his commitment to making Cape Coast a greener, cleaner, and more environmentally sustainable city. He encouraged residents, educational institutions, businesses, and corporate organizations to actively participate in tree-planting and environmental sanitation initiatives to help realize the shared vision of a clean, resilient, and sustainable metropolis.

The Tree for Life initiative underscores the importance of collective action in protecting the environment, preserving biodiversity, and creating a healthier future for generations to come.
