Cape Coast Marks Ghana’s 69th Independence Day in Grand Style

Residents of Cape Coast came together in a display of pride, unity, and patriotism to commemorate Ghana’s 69th Independence Day on Friday, March 6, 2026.

The colourful ceremony was led by the Mayor of Cape Coast, George Justice Arthur, and brought together traditional leaders, security agencies, Assembly Members, students, and members of the public to mark the historic occasion.

The event featured an impressive parade by school children and security services, alongside patriotic recitations and vibrant cultural performances that showcased the discipline, unity, and rich heritage of the Ghanaian people.

Observed annually as Ghana Independence Day, the celebration provided an opportunity for reflection on the sacrifices of the nation’s forebears, while inspiring citizens to recommit themselves to national development.

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly reaffirmed its dedication to nurturing responsible citizens and implementing initiatives aimed at securing a brighter future for generations within the metropolis.
