The Cape Coast Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. George Justice Arthur, on Tuesday, 14th July, 2026, welcomed the Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Caroline Reindorf Amissah, on a courtesy call at the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly.

The visit provided an opportunity for fruitful discussions on key healthcare priorities within the metropolis. Dr. Reindorf Amissah briefed the Mayor on the Ghana Health Service's findings and progress in critical areas, including immunization and primary healthcare delivery, while exploring strategies to further improve access to quality healthcare for residents.

A major focus of the engagement was the need to enhance health infrastructure in Cape Coast. Discussions centred on plans to refurbish the Bakaano Hospital and upgrade the Ewim Polyclinic with a fully equipped theatre and other essential health facilities to strengthen healthcare services across the metropolis.

Hon. George Justice Arthur reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to working closely with the Ghana Health Service and other stakeholders to improve healthcare infrastructure and ensure quality, accessible, and efficient health services for the people of Cape Coast.
