Development Planning Unit
The Metropolitan Planning Unit is one of the units under the Central Administration Department of the Assembly. The unit is responsible for coordinating, monitoring and evaluating development plans and programmes of the Metropolitan Assembly to ensure effective implementation and alignment with national development policies.

Vision
To be a model planning unit that provides evidence-based, participatory and forward-looking development plans for the sustainable growth of the Cape Coast Metropolis.
Mission
To facilitate the development of comprehensive, inclusive and implementable development plans and to coordinate the monitoring and evaluation of development programmes for effective service delivery in the Cape Coast Metropolis.
Core Functions & Responsibilities
- Coordinate the preparation of the Metropolitan Development Plan (MTDP).
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Metropolitan Development Plan.
- Coordinate sectoral planning activities within the Assembly.
- Prepare annual progress reports on the implementation of the MTDP.
- Facilitate community needs assessment and participatory planning processes.
- Coordinate with NDPC and other national planning bodies.
- Provide planning advisory services to all departments and units.
- Maintain a development data bank for the Metropolis.
