Unanimous Support for new CCMA leadership

In a significant and historic session held on April 17, 2025, members of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly convened at the Assembly Hall to elect a new Presiding Member and confirm the appointment of a new Mayor. Following an engaging series of election rounds, Hon. Godfred Abraham emerged victorious as the newly elected Presiding Member. Upon taking the oath of office, Hon. Abraham proceeded to oversee one of the Assembly’s most crucial decisions—the confirmation of Hon. George Justice Arthur as the new Metropolitan Chief Executive (Mayor) of Cape Coast. Hon. George Justice Arthur, the nominee appointed by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, received unanimous support, gaining a remarkable 100% approval from assembly members. This unanimous confirmation came from representatives across all political affiliations, highlighting a united commitment toward the advancement and development of the Cape Coast metropolis. Government-appointed members of the Assembly also endorsed the nomination fully, symbolizing strong cooperation and unity in local governance. Adding a personal and cordial note to the occasion, Hon. Ernest Arthur, former Mayor and leader during the previous government’s tenure, gracefully congratulated the newly confirmed Mayor. Coincidentally celebrating his birthday on this historic day, Hon. Ernest Arthur took the opportunity to extend good wishes to his successor, emphasizing the spirit of unity and shared vision for the continued progress and prosperity of Cape Coast. The Assembly’s new leadership marks a renewed era of collaborative governance, aiming to foster inclusive development, transparency, and innovation within the Cape Coast Metropolis. Citizens and stakeholders look forward to a transformative period under this new stewardship.
