Efforts to strengthen collaboration in the education sector received a boost in Cape Coast following a high-level engagement between the Complementary Education Agency (CEA) and the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly.
On Thursday, January 22, 2026, the Acting Central Regional Director of the Complementary Education Agency, Esther Nana Yaa Ayensu, paid a courtesy call on the Metropolitan Chief Executive, George Justice Arthur.
She was accompanied by the CEA Cape Coast District Director, Pius Dzinyela, and an OSD Officer, Emma. The MCE was joined by Assistant Directors of the Assembly, Joel Opare and Hamida.
The visit featured a closed-door meeting between the Regional Director and the MCE, focusing on key operational and strategic issues, including staffing challenges, the condition of the CEA Cape Coast office, and the need for greater stakeholder participation in Assembly Sub-Committee and General Assembly meetings.
Madam Ayensu also highlighted ongoing efforts by the Agency toward the passage of its Legislative Instrument, which is yet to be laid before Parliament. She appealed to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to support the process and reiterated the Agency’s mandate in advancing complementary education.
Additionally, she drew attention to the deteriorating condition of the Ministry’s office block currently housing the Agency, warning of the risks it poses to staff and operations.
In his response, Hon. Arthur welcomed the engagement and expressed support for the concerns raised. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Agency and outlined plans to address the issues discussed.
The meeting underscored a shared commitment to enhancing institutional partnerships and improving education delivery across the Cape Coast Metropolis.
