Academic excellence in Cape Coast continues to shine on the national stage, as the Metropolitan Chief Executive, George Justice Arthur, hosted the victorious team from St. Augustine’s College following their triumph in the prestigious Sharks Quiz Competition.
During the meeting held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the Mayor commended the students for their outstanding performance, resilience, and commitment to excellence as they presented their trophy. The team also received cash rewards from the competition’s organizers in recognition of their achievement.
A highlight of the visit was the recognition of King Yawson, a member of the team, who was awarded a fully funded $50,000 scholarship by Academic City University College. The scholarship covers a four-year bachelor’s degree programme, reflecting his exceptional academic prowess.
Hon. Arthur encouraged the students to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to their goals, emphasizing that hard work remains the foundation for long-term success.
The victory further reinforces Cape Coast’s reputation as Ghana’s citadel of education. Coming shortly after Mfantsipim School’s recent success in the National Science and Maths Quiz, St. Augustine’s College has once again brought national recognition to the city.
The achievement highlights the consistent excellence of Cape Coast’s educational institutions in nurturing future leaders and sustaining the city’s legacy as a hub of academic distinction.
