Community engagement and citizen participation continue to play a central role in effective local governance in Cape Coast, as authorities deepen efforts to involve residents in decision-making and development processes.
On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, the Mayor of Cape Coast, George Justice Arthur, led a delegation from the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly to the Amanful East and West Electoral Areas at Nkwantado as part of an ongoing community engagement exercise.
The team, which included the Metropolitan Co-ordinating Director, Asumah Adam Braimah, and other management members of the Assembly, was warmly received by Assembly Members Abraham Woode and Victoria Swanzy, as well as traditional leaders, opinion leaders, and residents.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Arthur highlighted key development projects undertaken by the Assembly and outlined plans for upcoming initiatives across the metropolis. He stressed the critical role residents play in driving local development and urged them to fulfil their civic responsibilities, including the payment of property rates, acquisition of building permits, and securing business operating permits to support revenue mobilisation.
The Mayor also encouraged residents to actively participate in communal labour activities and appealed to property owners to maintain and paint their buildings to enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal.
Residents, in turn, shared their concerns, ideas, and expectations, contributing to discussions on improving infrastructure and living conditions within their communities.
The engagement underscores the Assembly’s commitment to inclusive governance and collaborative development, aimed at building a more responsive and vibrant Cape Coast.
