New KG Block and Boreholes Signal Progress Under 8-Year Development Plan

Education and access to clean water have taken centre stage in the development agenda of Cape Coast, as city authorities continue to invest in critical social infrastructure to improve livelihoods.

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, the Mayor of Cape Coast, George Justice Arthur, together with Assembly officials, the Cape Coast Metro Education Directorate, and other key stakeholders, commissioned a newly constructed Kindergarten (KG) block for St. Nicholas Anglican Basic School at Adisadel.

The facility, delivered under the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly’s 8-Year Development Plan (2026–2033), is equipped with modern ancillary amenities, including two entertainment rooms for pupils, a kitchen with a storeroom, a headmistress’ office, and additional classroom spaces. The project is designed to provide a safe, child-friendly, and conducive environment for early childhood education.

In a coordinated effort to maximise impact, the Mayor also inaugurated four mechanised boreholes fitted with 10,000-litre polytanks at strategic locations, including Ekon CHP Compound, Ekon Township, N.I.B, and the Adisadel Urban Health Centre. The intervention is aimed at improving access to potable water and strengthening public health outcomes across the metropolis.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Arthur reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to sustained investment in education, water supply, and other essential services, noting that such initiatives are critical to enhancing the quality of life for residents and driving long-term development
