Mayor Welcomes Tourism Authority and PANAFEST Delegation

Cape Coast, July 15, 2025 — The Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, on Tuesday welcomed Mr. Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey (popularly known as Abeiku Santana), Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, along with the PANAFEST team led by Rabbi Kohain and their delegation.

The visit formed part of ongoing preparations toward the highly anticipated PANAFEST 2025 celebrations, scheduled to commence on July 26, 2025. This year’s festival is expected to attract national attention, with the distinguished presence of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, as a Special Guest. In a series of discussions, the Mayor and the delegation explored strategies to promote and develop Cape Coast’s rich historical and cultural heritage sites. Hon. Arthur emphasized the importance of stakeholder collaboration in enhancing tourism infrastructure, deepening cultural connections, and advancing the city’s long-term vision for sustainable tourism development.

“Cape Coast is a proud beacon of Ghanaian heritage,” Mayor Arthur stated. “Through PANAFEST, we are not only celebrating culture but also creating opportunities to strengthen tourism and inspire unity across Africa and the diaspora.”

The visit reaffirmed Cape Coast’s central role as a custodian of Ghana’s history and cultural identity. With preparations underway, PANAFEST 2025 promises to be a unifying celebration of African heritage, resilience, and shared identity.
