Mayor Shares Vision of first 120 Days with Media

On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, held a media engagement session to outline his vision and priorities for the development of the metropolis. The event, held at the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly Hall, brought together the media, Assembly officials, and stakeholders, providing an opportunity for the Mayor to present his strategic roadmap and seek the support of the people of Cape Coast. In his address, Hon. Arthur emphasized that his administration is committed to transforming Cape Coast into a thriving, sustainable, and culturally vibrant coastal city, with a focus on economic growth, social inclusion, and improved quality of life for all residents. He presented key focus areas of his vision, including: - Tourism Development - Education and Skills Enhancement - Healthcare Improvement - Economic and Private Sector Development - Infrastructure and Road Rehabilitation - Sanitation and Waste Management (Clean Cape Coast Initiative) - Security and Public Safety - Revenue Mobilization and Digitalization - Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability - Social Protection and Youth Empowerment - Sports, Recreation, and Creative Arts Promotion As part of his First 120 Days Action Plan, Hon. Arthur outlined immediate steps to be taken, including: - Launching an 8-year Development Plan for Cape Coast. - Conducting institutional reviews and financial audits. - Engaging with traditional councils, community leaders, and civil society for inclusive governance. - Addressing critical road networks and street lighting issues. - Developing a Tourism Revitalization Strategy to boost local economy. The Mayor stressed that the vision cannot be achieved by the Assembly alone and called for collective effort from all stakeholders, including the private sector, traditional authorities, and residents. “It is only through collaboration and shared responsibility that we can truly reset Cape Coast and make it a model city of growth, culture, and opportunity,” Hon. Arthur remarked. The engagement served as a platform for open dialogue, with the Mayor encouraging the media and the public to remain active partners in the development agenda of the metropolis.
