Mayor Moves to Revive Abandoned CHPS Project at Dankwakrom

On the late afternoon of Wednesday, 17th September 2025, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, accompanied by the Metropolitan Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Asumah Braimah, and a technical team from the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, visited Dankwakrom, a vibrant suburb of Cape Coast, to explore ways to provide the community with a functional and well-equipped CHPS Zone (Community-based Health Planning and Services compound).
The visit, led by the Assembly Member for the Ebubonko-Amissano Electoral Area, Hon. Dawda Ibrahim (DMK), began with a warm reception at the palace of the Chief of Dankwakrom, Nana Kwodwo Dankwa VI, and his elders.
During a productive engagement, the traditional leaders appealed to the Assembly to complete an abandoned CHPS compound that had been left unfinished and deteriorating for several years. The Mayor assured the Chief and residents of the Assembly’s renewed commitment to completing the facility and announced plans to add residential bungalows for health personnel to ensure effective service delivery once the clinic becomes operational.
This initiative reflects the Assembly’s continuous efforts to improve access to quality healthcare across the Metropolis, strengthen community health systems, and promote equitable development for all.
