Mayor Reaffirms Support for Education at OLA Graduation

Cape Coast, July 11, 2025 — The Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, on Friday joined dignitaries, faculty, students, and families at the 17th Congregation of Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) College of Education in Cape Coast. The colorful ceremony celebrated academic excellence and the achievements of the graduating class as they were officially awarded diplomas, marking their entry into the teaching profession.

The event not only recognized the perseverance and hard work of the graduates but also provided a moment to reflect on OLA College’s progress and its ongoing commitment to quality teacher education in Ghana.

In his address, Hon. Arthur commended the leadership of OLA College for their dedicated efforts in shaping the future of education through the training of competent and professional teachers. He congratulated the graduates, reminding them that their accomplishments extend beyond personal success and contribute to Ghana’s national development agenda. “The future of our communities rests in your hands,” the Mayor said. “As newly qualified teachers, I urge you to be agents of positive change — uphold professionalism, integrity, and excellence in your service to society.” Hon. Arthur further reaffirmed the support of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly for education, pledging stronger collaboration with institutions like OLA College to foster sustainable development in the region.

Principal of the College, Dr. Mrs. Regina Okyere-Dankwa, expressed gratitude to the Mayor for his presence and encouragement. She highlighted the college’s recent achievements while calling for continued partnership with stakeholders to strengthen infrastructure and academic programs.
