Mayor inspects Sanitation Conditions along Highways

As part of his routine working visits, the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, conducted an inspection of sanitation conditions along key highways within the metropolis. The inspection covered major areas including Pedu Junction, Adisadel area, Aquarium, and Mfantsipim roads. Hon. Arthur expressed concern over the bushy and unsightly nature of some sections of these routes, which detract from the city’s aesthetic appeal and pose potential health hazards. He has therefore directed, with immediate effect, that all overgrown and bushy areas along these corridors be cleared to enhance the visual outlook of Cape Coast. In addition, the MCE inspected several drainage systems and identified instances where illegal structures had been erected on waterways, obstructing the free flow of water and contributing to sanitation challenges. He ordered the immediate halt of such unauthorized developments and tasked the relevant Assembly units to take appropriate action. This exercise forms part of the Assembly’s broader efforts to improve sanitation, enforce environmental regulations, and give Cape Coast a befitting facelift.
