Mayor Engages Ghana Blind and Disability Unions on Inclusive Development

On Saturday, 13th September 2024, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, met with members of the Ghana Blind Union and the Ghana Disability Union at the Ghana Red Cross Society premises near the Cape Coast Metro Health Insurance Office.

The engagement formed part of the Mayor’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusivity and social equity within the Metropolis. Discussions centered on the welfare of persons with disabilities (PWDs), their representation in local governance, and opportunities for empowerment through education, employment, and accessibility initiatives.

Hon. George Justice Arthur reaffirmed the commitment of H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the Members of Parliament for Cape Coast North and South to the wellbeing of the disability community. He assured participants of continued advocacy and practical interventions aimed at improving their quality of life and ensuring their active participation in the city’s development agenda.

He commended members of both unions for their resilience, courage, and invaluable contributions to the social and economic fabric of Cape Coast. “A truly progressive city leaves no one behind,” the Mayor emphasized, highlighting the Assembly’s determination to make inclusivity a core pillar of Cape Coast’s transformation agenda.

The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of collaboration and optimism for stronger partnerships between local authorities and the disability community.
