Cape Coast Youth Receive Support Under National Apprenticeship Programme

Craftsmanship and skills development continue to play a vital role in addressing youth unemployment in Cape Coast, as local and national authorities collaborate to empower young people with practical tools for sustainable livelihoods.

On Wednesday, February 12, 2026, the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA) benefited from the National Apprenticeship Programme, under the auspices of the National Youth Authority and in collaboration with the Youth Employment Agency.

At a ceremony held at the CCMA Assembly Hall, tools and equipment were presented to apprentices and master craftspersons to support their training and business activities.

The well-attended event was graced by the CEO of the National Youth Authority, Osman Ayariga; the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North, Kwamena Minta Nyarku; the Mayor of Cape Coast, George Justice Arthur; and the Central Regional Coordinator for the National Apprenticeship Programme, Ebenezer Abeiku Essien.

The initiative underscores a shared commitment to equipping young people with practical skills, creating job opportunities, and driving local economic growth. Through programmes such as this, Cape Coast is investing in hands-on expertise that supports livelihoods and strengthens the city’s economy.
