Cape Coast Mosque Receives Donations in Spirit of Compassion

A spirit of compassion and solidarity marked activities in Cape Coast on March 18, 2026, as the Vice President of Ghana, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, supported the Muslim community during the holy month of Ramadan.

In collaboration with the Central Regional Coordinating Council, assorted food items were donated to the Muslim Council in the Central Region at the Cape Coast Central Mosque to assist in preparations toward the end of the fasting period.

Presenting the items on behalf of the Vice President, Mike Dery, Central Regional Political Coordinator and Presidential Staffer, was joined by the Mayor of Cape Coast, George Justice Arthur. They called on the Muslim community to remember the nation’s leadership in their prayers, seeking divine wisdom, strength, and guidance for governance and development.

They also urged prayers for global peace, particularly in light of tensions involving Iran, United States, and Israel, noting the broader economic implications of such conflicts, including rising crude oil prices and their impact on Ghana’s economy.

In a further show of support, the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South and Deputy Majority Leader, George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, also donated assorted items to the Muslim community. The items were presented on his behalf by the Mayor alongside party executives.

Hon. Arthur commended the sustained support extended to the Muslim community during Ramadan, highlighting the Vice President’s longstanding commitment to such acts of generosity, even prior to assuming office.

He concluded by encouraging the Muslim Council to remain steadfast in prayers for peace, unity, and the continued development of the Central Region and Ghana at large.
