Cape Coast Joins in Historic National Day of Prayer

Cape Coast, July 1, 2025 — The Central Region joined the rest of the nation on Tuesday in observing Ghana’s first-ever National Day of Prayer & Thanksgiving, a landmark initiative declared by President John Dramani Mahama to be held annually on Republic Day.
The day, set under the theme “Reflect, Reset & Renew for National Prosperity,” brought together people of all faiths in churches, mosques, and community centers to lift prayers for peace, good governance, and the bright future of Ghana’s children.
In Cape Coast, the atmosphere was filled with solemnity and hope as citizens united in thanksgiving and intercession. Religious leaders urged Ghanaians not only to give thanks but also to embrace service, integrity, and love as guiding values in nation-building. “This day is more than a prayer,” one community elder reflected. “It is a reminder that gratitude must inspire action — that we must all play our part in shaping Ghana’s destiny.”
The National Day of Prayer & Thanksgiving is envisioned as a unifying tradition, one that encourages reflection on the nation’s journey, a resetting of priorities, and a renewed commitment to prosperity and unity. As voices rose in prayer and hearts swelled with hope, Cape Coast and the entire nation sent a clear message: Ghana’s strength lies not only in its heritage but also in its collective spirit of renewal. #ReflectResetRenew #GhanaUnites
