Cape Coast Assembly Backs Wesley Girls’ Development Requests

Strengthening collaboration with key educational institutions remains a top priority for authorities in Cape Coast, as part of efforts to enhance teaching and learning outcomes across the metropolis.

On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, the newly appointed Headmistress of Wesley Girls’ High School, Evelyn Nana Efua Assan, paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of Cape Coast, George Justice Arthur, at his office.

She was accompanied by members of the school’s management team, including Gabriel K. Kumassah, Anna Aboagyewa Koranteng, and Hannah Queensley Woode. The visit was to formally introduce the new Headmistress and to explore areas of collaboration and support between the school and the Assembly.

During the engagement, the Headmistress appealed to the Assembly for assistance in grading the school’s pitch to serve as a temporary parking space ahead of its upcoming Speech and Prize-Giving Day. The school also sought the Mayor’s support in lobbying for the allocation of a new bus and a pick-up vehicle under future distributions by the GETFund to senior high schools.

In response, Hon. Arthur assured the delegation of the Assembly’s full support, indicating that steps would be taken promptly to address the request to grade the pitch. He also pledged to follow up on the vehicle requests.

The Mayor further disclosed that he has engaged the GETFund Secretariat to advocate for the completion of stalled projects across the metropolis, including those that will benefit Wesley Girls’ High School.

The meeting reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships with educational institutions to drive development and improve learning conditions in Cape Coast
