Assembly Explores Solutions to Flooding and Accessibility Issues at 3rd Ridge

On Monday, 18th May, 2026, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, together with some officials of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, paid a working visit to the 3rd Ridge–Holy Cross School area near Nkanfoa to assess at firsthand the challenges residents face whenever it rains.

The visit formed part of the Mayor’s commitment to engaging communities directly and understanding critical issues affecting residents. During the inspection, the Mayor and his team observed the poor state of mobility within the area, especially during rainfall, which often makes movement difficult for both motorists and pedestrians.

The team also interacted with some residents to gather concerns and suggestions on how best the Assembly can intervene to improve drainage systems, road accessibility, and overall mobility in the area.

Later, the Assembly team proceeded to inspect the site earmarked for the construction of the proposed 24-hour market, where land clearing and other preparatory works are currently ongoing. The visit was to assess the progress made so far and ensure that preliminary activities are on course ahead of the commencement of the main construction works.

It was concluded that the Mayor will meet with the entire residents of the area on Sunday, 31st May, 2026, to further deliberate on the challenges and discuss practical ways through which the Assembly can intervene to address the situation.

Hon. George Justice Arthur reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to addressing infrastructure challenges within the metropolis and working towards practical solutions that will enhance the safety and comfort of residents, particularly during the rainy season, while also prioritizing developmental projects aimed at boosting local economic activities.
