Disaster Management (NADMO)
The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) at the Metropolitan level is responsible for coordinating disaster prevention, preparedness, response and recovery activities within the Cape Coast Metropolis. The unit operates under the NADMO Act, 1996 (Act 517) and works in collaboration with all relevant agencies and stakeholders.

Mission
The mission of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is to manage disasters by coordinating the resources of government institutions and non-governmental agencies, develop the capacity of voluntary community-based organizations to respond effectively to emergencies and improve livelihood through social mobilization, employment generation and poverty reduction projects.
Core Functions & Responsibilities
- Strengthen the institutional capacity of NADMO and its stakeholders to perform effectively.
- Implement disaster management programs at national, regional, district and zonal levels.
- Equip the organization to handle all aspect of disasters in Ghana.
- Strengthen disaster prevention and response mechanisms.
- Be in a position to provide the first line response in times of disaster.
- Coordinate relief activities during and after disasters.
- Educate and sensitize communities on disaster preparedness and response.
- Maintain and regularly update disaster risk registers for the Metropolis.
