The Education Department of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly is responsible for planning, coordinating and supporting educational activities within the Metropolis in alignment with national education policies and the Ghana Education Service (GES) framework.
Vision
To develop a well-educated, skilled and empowered citizenry in the Cape Coast Metropolis that contributes meaningfully to national development.
Mission
To coordinate quality educational services, promote access to education at all levels and support the development of human capital within the Cape Coast Metropolis.
Core Functions & Responsibilities
- Coordinate educational activities and programmes within the Metropolis.
- Support the implementation of national education policies at the metropolitan level.
- Facilitate the construction and maintenance of school infrastructure.
- Promote access to quality education for all citizens including marginalized groups.
- Coordinate scholarship and bursary support programmes.
- Liaise with GES and other education stakeholders on metropolitan education matters.
- Prepare and submit educational data and reports to relevant authorities.
