Observations of Child Protection Issues of Concern identified in the Community
It was realized at the end of the programme that;
1. Due to poverty most parents are unable to cater for their children hence children assuming parental roles at an early age.
2. Some parents are responsible for the deviant behaviours of their children because they do not allow other people in the Community to correct their children when the children deviate.
3. There is high rate of school drop-out in the community.
Issues to be addressed:
• School going girls getting pregnant is on the increase in the community.
• The need to have more awareness creation on children’s responsibilities.
• The need to educate the children to abstain from sex and other sexual related activities.
• Parents need to take full responsibility of their children.
Impact of the visit:
Parents have realized their responsibilities and the need to show love to their children and listen to their views.
Challenges:
1. Male attendance was poor.
