VisitationKamala Harris visits the historic city of Cape Coast
On Tuesday, 28th March, 2023, I welcomed the Vice President of the United States, H.E Kamala Harris and her husband, Douglas Emhoff to the Central Region.
They paid a courtesy call on the Chiefs and people of Cape Coast and later toured the Cape Coast Castle. At Emintsimadze Palace, where they paid a courtesy on the Chiefs and people of Cape Coast, they were warmly welcomed with pump and pageantry.
Welcoming the delegation to the region, the Regional Minister, Hon. Mrs Justina Marigold Assan expressed the region's gratitude for her historic visit. She also seized the opportunity to request for the strengthening of partnership between the region and the USA for our mutual benefit in areas such as:
1. Education and Youth Programming.
2. Support for women empowerment.
3. Establishing Sister-Cities for Mutual Socio-economic Benefits.
In her brief remarks, H.E. Harris, expressed her excitement about the warm reception they received and appreciated the beautiful display of culture. Also, she gave assurance of considering the requests made to her.
