The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA) joined the nation in celebrating Ghana’s 68th Independence Day with a colorful event held at Victoria Park on Wednesday, 6th March 2025.
The event, which was organized under the theme Reflect, Review, and Reset, brought together local government officials, students, teachers, security personnel, and residents of the metropolis to mark the historic occasion. Leading the CCMA delegation was the Metropolitan Coordinating Director, Mr. Adam Azumah Briamah, who delivered an address emphasizing the need for national reflection, self-evaluation, and progress as Ghana moves forward.
The ceremony featured a well-coordinated parade by schoolchildren, security agencies, and civil society groups. In his speech, Mr. Briamah highlighted the importance of unity, patriotism, and community development, urging residents of Cape Coast to contribute towards the nation’s growth by upholding values of discipline, hard work, and innovation.
A special highlight of the event was the recognition of outstanding final-year students from the metropolis for their academic excellence in 2024. These students were honored for their dedication, resilience, and contributions to education in Cape Coast. Awards were presented to the top-performing students as a motivation to others to strive for excellence in their studies.
Residents who attended the event expressed their excitement about the celebration and applauded CCMA for organizing a well-structured program. The Independence Day celebration ended with cultural performances and displays of Ghanaian heritage, reinforcing the spirit of patriotism among attendees.
