Mission
The mission of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is to manage disasters by coordinating the resources of government institutions and non-governmental agencies, develop the capacity of voluntary community-based organizations to respond effectively to emergencies and improve livelihood through social mobilization, employment generation and poverty reduction projects.

Core Functions & Responsibilities
NADMO is responsible for the implementation of government policy on disaster prevention, disaster risk reduction and climate change management, by creating management plans for preventing and mitigating the consequences of disasters
NADMO in the Metropolitan Assembly shall:
- Strengthen the institutional capacity of NADMO and its stakeholders to perform effectively.
- Implement disaster management programs at national, regional, district and zonal levels
- Equip the organization to handle all aspect of disasters in Ghana.
- Strengthen disaster prevention and response mechanisms.
- Be in a position to provide the first line response in times of disaster.
- Set up monitoring and early warning systems to aid the identification of disasters in their formative stages, to disseminate timely information and warning, and hazard/ disaster awareness creation.
- Enforce laws to prevent and mitigate disasters.
- Create awareness on disasters through intensive public education.
